The Siuslaw Vikings wrestling team holds its first practice Monday, Nov. 14, and launches its season Dec. 1 by hosting the Reedsport Braves.

Siuslaw's only home meet after that is the annual Nick Lutz Memorial Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Junior Ricky Huff (113 pounds) is the only Siuslaw state qualifier from last season returning. Huff placed sixth in the Class 4A state championships.

Senior Eyza Abbas returns, hoping to give the Vikings their first female state champion.

Three of Siuslaw's four state qualifiers from last season are gone, Dylan Jennings and Talamoa Tupua both graduating and Murray Bingham transferring.

Neil Wartnik is in his 22nd year as wrestling coach.
