Marshfield runs past Siuslaw, 70-20
Marshfield sophomore running back Tristan Lemmons rushed for four touchdowns Friday to lead the Pirates to a 70-20 victory over the Siuslaw Vikings in a Far West League game at Pete Susick Stadium in Coos Bay.
Lemmons had 11 carries for 99 yards and three TDs by halftime as the Pirates rolled to a 42-13 lead. Lemmons had 4 more carries and a TD in the second half, finishing with 15 carries for 144 yards.
Junior quarterback Jared Brandt led the Vikings with an 11-yard TD run and two TD passes, 10 and 36 yards to junior tight end Trent Reavis.
Brandt completed 18 of 26 passes for 178 yards in the game.
The loss dropped the Vikings to 1-5 for the season and 0-3 in league.
Siuslaw finishes its season with a game at South Umpqua this coming Friday and homecoming/senior recognition night on Friday, Oct. 21, against Brookings-Harbor at Hans Petersen Field.
Marshfield improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in league, the Pirates' lone loss 42-20 at South Umpqua in their league opener Sept. 30.
In other league games Friday, top-ranked North Bend overwhelmed South Umpqua 30-6 and Douglas rallied to beat Brookings-Harbor 28-22.
