Mans finishes 41st in final Nike BorderClash


Siuslaw Vikings senior Celie Mans placed 41st Sunday in the Nike BorderClash 18 cross country race at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton.

Mans completed the 5,000-meter event in 19 minutes, 37.2 seconds. Jordan Oakes of Washington won in 17:53.3.

It was the fourth BorderClash for Mans, who ran 19:00.8 in 2015. The 2014 and 2013 races were run at 4,387 meters.

Earlier this month, Mans repeated as Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A champion.

The Washington women's team won with 19 points, while Oregon had 37.

James Mwaura of Washington won the boys race in 15:25. Washington won the team title with 19 points to 38 by Oregon runners.

Class 4A runnerup Solace Bergeron of Tillamook finished 62nd Sunday in 20:06.5 and state third-place finisher Linnaea Kavulich of Scappoose was 63rd in 20:14.3.
