Siuslaw Vikings first-year boys basketball coach Dylan Perry has picked his 12-player varsity roster and a team captain for the 2016-17 season.

Now he hopes to pick up some community support as Wednesday's season and home opener against Creswell nears.

"We would love to see a large turnout from our community," Perry said.

Senior Brogan Cornish, a 6-foot point guard, has been named team captain on Perry's junior-dominated team.

Other seniors are Jakob O'Connor, Ricky Jones and Marcos Reyna-Ayala, each 5-10.

Two of the seven juniors include returning starters Trent Reavis, a 6-7 post, and Jared Brandt, a 6-2 wing. Others include 6-2 Jake Hickson, 6-foot Evan Teter, 5-11 Evan Johnson, 6-2 Dylan McGallian and 6-4 Kyle King.

Rounding out the roster is 6-6 freshman Sam Myers.

Perry is assisted by Josh Richter, Phil Myers and Ty Perry.

Game time Wednesday is 7:30 p.m. at Glenn Butler Court.

The junior varsity team includes junior Matt English, sophomores Nick Swift, Daniel Olson, Nick Disalvo, Tim Lowder, Dylan Wynn, Adrian Ortega and Jordan Taniguchi and freshmen Kiger Johnson, Caleb Hennessee, Ricardo Loza Sanchez, Isaiah Jones, Brendon Jensen and Clayton Remilong.
