This free-throw effort seeks nothing but net

Siuslaw Vikings boys basketball players are busy hitting up sponsors for donations.

Saturday, Nov. 26, the players hope to hit as many free throws as possible out of 100 attempts to make the most of those commitments.

The players are armed with a free-throw fundraiser form that commits sponsors to a fixed amount for each shot made.

These are the rules of the game, according to the form:

"The free-throw fundraiser this year will take place on Saturday, November 26. Each member of the program will shoot 100 free throws over the span of a two-hour session. While one team member shoots, other team members and coaches will count the free throws made. After each team member has finished, a coach from our program will verify the number of free throws made out of 100 attempts.

"You can pledge any amount of money per free throw, or you can choose to sponsor a team member for a specific dollar amount. It is your choice to do whatever you feel most comfortable with. As a guideline, you can estimate that students will likely make anywhere from 60 to 80 free throws. Therefore, if you choose to pledge $.50 per free throw, you would be looking at donating anywhere from $30 to $40 for the fundraiser.

"Once the free-throw fundraiser is completed, the team member that you sponsored will approach you for your donation. At that time you can make a check payable to Siuslaw Boys Basketball for the amount indicated.

"Thank you for your support of Siuslaw Boys Basketball."
