Five seniors, two juniors and three sophomores have made the varsity roster for the 2016-17 Siuslaw Vikings girls basketball team.

Guard Destinie Tatum, a second-team all-Far West League all-star last season, is joined by fellow seniors Nikki Launius, Brittany Long, Claire Waggoner and Abby Watkins.

Marika White, the only 6-footer on the roster, and Carreina Greenburg are the two juniors.

Making varsity as sophomores are Madison Reynolds, Alyssa Richards and Annabel Tupua.

Four players are vying for two varsity positions, juniors Lainey Goss and Claire Morros and sophomores Hailee Edgerly and Zoe Leech.

Those four will swing between varsity and junior varsity, depending on the player needs of second-year coach Clint Tatum.

The Vikings open their season with three home games, Wednesday, Nov. 30, against Creswell, Friday, Dec. 2, against Elmira and Tuesday, Dec. 6, against Newport.

Tip off for all three games is 6 p.m.

Siuslaw hosts South Umpqua at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, to open league play.

The Vikings junior varsity includes junior Alexis Curtis, sophomores Hayley Meier and Lillian Wenham and freshmen Breann Vergara, Destani Fuller, Elissa Hurley and Kelsey Larson.
