The Brookings-Harbor Bruins defeated the Siuslaw Vikings, 51-29, in a nonleague girls basketball game Saturday at South Umpqua High School in Tri City.

The game substituted for a match with a Skyline Conference opponent that was scrapped because of weather. The Vikings originally were scheduled to play North Valley.

Siuslaw fell to 4-8 for the season. Brookings-Harbor improved to 8-5.

Senior Destinie Tatum led the Vikings in scoring with 12 points. She also had 5 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

Sophomore Alyssa Richards added 6 points and 2 blocked shots.

Senior Claire Waggoner had a team-high 11 rebounds and scored 4 points.

Senior Brittany Long had team highs of 5 steals and 3 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds.

Abby Farmer had 29 points to lead the Bruins.

The Vikings hit 25 percent of their shots from the field (10 of 40) and 60 percent of their free throws (9 of 15).

Siuslaw hosts Junction City (5-7) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Glenn Butler Court.

The Vikings open Far West League play at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, hosting South Umpqua.
