Nick Lutz Invitational Saturday at Siuslaw
The Siuslaw Vikings wrestling team holds its big home event of the season Saturday, hosting the Nick Lutz Memorial Invitational at the high school gym.
The Vikings are led by junior 120-pounder Richard Huff (16-3), senior 170-pounder Nick Steinman (9-6) and senior 285-pounder Kainan Lane (8-8).
Schools entered include Amity, Brookings-Harbor, Churchill, Crow, Elmira, Gold Beach, Junction City, Riddle/Days Creek, Sheldon, Siletz Valley, South Umpqua, Springfield, Sutherlin, Taft, Toledo and Willamette.
The Vikings are entering the home stretch of their 2016-17 scheduled. Following Saturday's event, Siuslaw is scheduled for the following meets:
- Saturday, Jan. 21 — at Sutherlin Invitational
- Tuesday, Jan. 24 — at Philomath
- Wednesday, Feb. 1 — Far West League Tournament at North Bend
- Friday-Saturday, Feb. 3-4 — at Cottage Grove Invitational
- Friday-Saturday, Feb. 10-11 — at Special District Tournament, South Umpqua
- Friday-Saturday, Feb. 24-25 — at OSAA Class 4A State Wresting Championships, Portland Memorial Coliseum
