Alyssa Richards hit the big shot, Madison Reynolds made a big defensive rebound and Carreina Greenburg dribbled out the clock as the Siuslaw Vikings girls basketball team completed nonleague play Tuesday, beating visiting Junction City in overtime, 39-38.

The Vikings, 5-8 on the season, host South Umpqua at 6 p.m. Friday at Glenn Butler Court in a Far West League opener.

The Tigers, 5-8, open Sky-Em League play Friday at home against Sutherlin.

Senior Destinie Tatum had 17 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Vikings. Senior Abby Watkins had 6 points and a team-high 3 assists and senior Brittany Long had 5 points and a team-high 6 steals.

Tatum and Long both fouled out in the game.

Richards had a big night defensively with 9 rebounds and a team-high 4 blocked shots.
