Siuslaw junior 120-pounder Richard Huff pinned all three of his opponents Saturday to capture first place in the annual Nick Lutz Memorial Invitational wrestling tournament at Siuslaw High School.
The host Vikings finished sixth in a field of 21 teams with 90 points. Sutherlin was first with 182.5, followed by Elmira at 180, Sheldon at 175, Junction City at 170 and North Eugene at 117.
Huff scored 26 team points, while senior Scott Simmons was second at 138 and scored 24 points and senior Kainan Lane was third at 285 and scored 20 points.
Senior Nick Steinman was fifth place at 170 and scored 15 points and freshman Matthew Horrillo was 2-2 and scored 5 points.
Siuslaw was the top-scoring Far West League school of the four in the tournament. North Bend was ninth with 68 points, South Umpqua 12th with 56 and Brookings-Harbor 18th with 27.
The Vikings are scheduled to wrestle at the Sutherlin Invitational next Saturday and at Philomath on Jan. 24.
The Far West League tournament is Feb. 1 at North Bend, followed by the Cottage Grove Invitational Feb. 3-4 and the Special District Tournament Feb. 10-11 at South Umpqua.
