The Marshfield Pirates lived up to their top-10 ranking Tuesday, hammering the visiting Siuslaw Vikings, 79-28, in a Far West League girls basketball game in Coos Bay.

The win left Marshfield tied atop the league standings with North Bend, both teams off to 2-0 starts.

The Pirates, 11-5 overall, entered the game No. 6 in the Oregon School Activities Assocition rankings.

The Vikings fell to 1-1 in league and 6-9 overall.

In other league games Tuesday, North Bend beat visiting South Umpqua, 48-22, and Douglas edged visiting Brookings-Harbor, 50-43.

Senior Destinie Tatum led the Vikings with 7 points, all coming in the second half.

Samantha Waldrop, Hailey Browning, Tess Garrett and Alex Locati had 14 points each to lead Marshfield in scoring. Ravyn Miranda added 10.

Siuslaw next hosts Brookings-Harbor at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Butler Court.
