Siuslaw junior Richard Huff and sophomore Riley Jennings advanced Friday to the quarterfinal round of the two-day Cottage Grove Invitational wrestling tournament.
Quarterfinals, semifinals and finals are Saturday (Feb. 4) at Cottage Grove.
Huff, seeded No. 1 at 113 pounds, pinned Garrett Upton of Crescent Valley in 11 seconds in their second-round match. Huff had a bye in the first round.
Jennings, unseeded at 152 pounds, pinned his two opponents, including No. 3-seeded Jared Dyer of LaPine in the second round in 1:28.
Jennings pinned Sebastian Garein of Lowell in 4:50 in the first round.
The Vikings entered four other athletes in the tournament, with three eliminated and one still wrestling in consolation.
Siuslaw senior Joaquin Cervantes was eliminated at 138, losing by pin in the first round and by a medical forfeit in consolation.
Senior Jesus Sierra was eliminated at 145, finishing 1-2 with a pin.
Senior Nick Steinman was eliminated at 160, losing by pin and major decision in his two matches.
Freshman Matthew Horrillo was still alive at 285, going 3-1 with three pins.
Wrestlers from 33 schools are entered in the tournament.
Siuslaw wrestlers will be at the Special District Tournament, Feb. 10-11 at South Umpqua.
The state tournament is Feb. 24-25 in Portland.
