The Siuslaw boys basketball team still has a good shot at a spot in the postseason, but the Vikings are not making it easy on themselves.

With four league games remaining, Siuslaw is tied for second place in the Far West League with Marshfield and Douglas.

Friday, the Vikings dropped a 62-51 decision to the South Umpqua Lancers at Tri City, falling to 8-11 overall and 3-3 in league.

South Umpqua, with its first league win of the season, is 10-10 and 1-5.

The league's top three teams are assured spots in the postseason, with more possible depending on Oregon School Activities Association rankings.

Siuslaw may be tied for second but the Vikings are last among the six league schools in OSAA Class 4A rankings.

League-leader North Bend (6-0, 15-4) is ranked No. 4, Marshfield (3-3, 9-11) No. 20, Douglas (3-3, 7-11) No. 24 and Brookings-Harbor (2-4, 8-11) No. 27.

South Umpqua is No. 23 and Siuslaw No. 32.

Friday at South Umpqua, junior Trent Reavis led the Vikings with 17 points and 8 rebounds, while Brogan Cornish, Kyle King and Jake Hickson contributed 8 points each.

Cornish also had 3 steals and 5 rebounds, King 7 rebounds and Hickson both of the Vikings' 3-point goals.

Siuslaw hosts Marshfield at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Vikings' next-to-last scheduled home game.

In other league games Friday, North Bend topped host Douglas 62-47 and Brookings-Harbor won at Marshfield, 47-30.
