Vikings' Huff pins foe in 54 seconds for title


Siuslaw junior Richard Huff pinned Symon Thurman of Lowell in 54 seconds to win the 113-pound division at the Cottage Grove Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday at Cottage Grove High School.

Huff, who was 5-0 in the tournament, improved to 30-3 on the season as the Vikings head to the Special District Tournament next Friday and Saturday at South Umpqua.

Junior Riley Jennings was the only other Viking to place in the two-day event, finishing fifth at 152 pounds.

Some 33 schools took part in the tournament.
