Three Siuslaw Vikings wrestlers are poised for a trip to the state tournament following action Friday in the Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A Special District 3 qualifying tournament at South Umpqua High School in Tri City.
Juniors Richard Huff (113-pound division) and Riley Jennings (152) and senior Kainan Lane (285) all advanced to the championship semifinals.
Finals for the two-day tournament are Saturday, with the top five in each weight division advancing to the state championships Feb. 24-25 at Portland's Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Huff, the top seed at 113, advanced with a forfeit win in the first round and a pin of Jonah Kugler of Mazama in 25 seconds in the quarterfinals.
Jennings, seeded No. 5 at 152, advanced on a bye and a 9-8 decision over Tommy Mintey of Hidden Valley in the quarterfinals.
Lane, seeded No. 4 at 285, advanced on a bye and a pin of Jaret Remington of South Umpqua in 1:05 in the quarterfinals.
Two other Vikings — senior Nick Steinman at 170 and freshman Matthew Horrillo at 285 — are alive in consolation, with the opportunity still there for a top-five finish.
Steinman was pinned by Alonzo Nalls of Brookings-Harbor in 1:30 in the quarterfinals, and advanced by forfeit in consolation.
Horrillo was pinned by Dallas Lamphere of Henley in 57 seconds in the quarterfinals. The No. 6 seed bounced back with a pin of NaTahna Schonchin-Noneo of Mazama in 2:29 in his first consolation match.
Three Vikings were eliminated on the first day, senior Eyza Abbas Carrasco at 120, senior Joaquin Cervantes at 138 and senior Jesus Sierra at 145.
