Siuslaw junior Trent Reavis scored 23 points Tuesday as the Vikings' boys basketball team clinched a playoff spot with a 59-48 victory over the Douglas Trojans in Winston.

Siuslaw locked up no worse than a tie for second place in the Far West League with the win, coupled with Marshfield's loss to South Umpqua.

The Vikings are alone in second place at 5-4 heading into Friday's big game with first-place North Bend (9-0) on senior recognition night at Glenn Butler Court.

Marshfield and Douglas are tied for third at 4-5, and meet Friday in Coos Bay in what amounts to an elimination game.

Vikings seniors to be recognized Friday are co-captains Brogan Cornish and Marcos Reyna-Ayala.

North Bend will receive a bye in the playoffs, while the league's second-place team will host a play-in game. The eight play-in winners will play at the top eight seeds On March 3 in the first round of the Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A tournament.  ...
