The Siuslaw Vikings' boys basketball team has clinched a home play-in game to the Oregon School Activities Association's Class 4A state tournament, despite losing its regular-season finale Friday to North Bend.

Siuslaw finished in a tie for second place in the Far West League with Douglas. The Vikings  earned the No. 2 league seed by virtue of their two wins over the Trojans in league play.

Senior guard Garrett Curtis scored 24 points as No. 5-ranked North Bend held off the Vikings, 47-41, at Glenn Butler Court.

The league-champion Bulldogs finished 10-0 in league and 19-4 overall and will draw a bye next week as the OSAA Class 4A postseason opens with eight play-in games.

Quinden Parsons hit a corner 3 as time ran out in overtime as Douglas upended Marshfield in Coos Bay, 58-55.

If Marshfield had won, the Pirates would have been at home next week and the Vikings would have a play-in game on the road.

Marshfield still could make the playoffs depending on the Pirates' final state ranking.

State rankings will be frozen at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Should Siuslaw win next Friday, the Vikings likely would play at Seaside, the state's top-ranked team, in the first round of the playoffs March 3.
