Siuslaw's Ricky Huff is a No. 1 seed at state


Siuslaw Vikings junior Richard Huff is the No. 1 seed in the 113-pound division of the Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A state wrestling championships Friday and Saturday in Portland.

Huff will wrestle Marshfield sophomore Colton West in the first round. Cascade freshman Kane Nixon is the No. 2 seed, Molalla freshman Maximus Tate the No. 3 seed and La Grande sophomore Ezra McIntosh the No. 4 seed.

Huff is joined by three teammates in the state championships — sophomore Riley Jennings, unseeded at 152 pounds; senior Nick Steinman, unseeded at 170 pounds, and senior Kainan Lane, the No. 5 seed at 285 pounds.

Jennings will face No. 1-seeded Lane Stigall, a North Marion senior, in the first round.

Steinman will face No. 2-seeded James Ellis, a Banks freshman, in the first round.

Lane will face unseeded Miguel Galindo, an Ontario junior, in the first round.

Action starts each day at 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Memoral Coliseum, 1401 N. Wheeler Ave.
