Siuslaw hosts Newport in state play-in game

First-year coach Dylan Perry led the Vikings to a second-place finish in the Far West League and a state play-in home game.

The Newport Cubs will visit the Siuslaw Vikings in the play-in round of the Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A boys basketball playoffs.

The game will be played 7 p.m. Friday at Glenn Butler Court, Siuslaw athletic director Chris Johnson confirmed Wednesday morning.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students. Coast Radio (106.9 FM) will broadcast the game beginning at 6:45 p.m.

The game is a rematch of the third game of the season for the Vikings, who dropped a 62-53 decision to the Cubs at Newport last Dec. 6.

The game was a missed opportunity for the young Vikings, who made only 9 of 27 free throws. Juniors Trent Reavis and Jake Hickson led the Vikings with 25 and 12 points, respectively.
