Vikings' boys team places third at state

The Siuslaw Vikings' varsity boys bowling team rolled to a third-place finish Sunday in the state tournament at KingPins Family Entertainment Center in Portland.

"That's the highest finish for a boys team from our school ever," Siuslaw boys coach Kathy Anderson said. "I sure am proud of them."

And the good news, there may be more to come.

"We have no seniors on the team," Anderson said.

The boys' team included Patrick Hill, Cesar Castillo, Kainunn Harrison, Logan Lindner, Evan Johnson and Neil DeVera.

The girls' team finished ninth. It is coached by Holiday Bowl manager Dusty Anderson, Kathy's brother-in-law.

The girls' team included Abby Coday, Maxine Jones, Teryn Larson, Dixie Dyess and Elissa Hurley.

Awards were given to the top three teams.

The tournament was under the aegis of the Oregon State United States Bowling Congress (OSUSBC).
