James Smith and John Weatherwax squeezed out a victory Thursday in the Florence Duplicate Bridge Club's weekly game at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.

Smith and Weatherwax scored 30 to 29.5 by the second-place team of Roberta Parker and Doreen MacNeil and 28.5 by the third-place team of Georgia Farman and John Reisner.

Kenneth Hampsten and Lloyd Littler were fourth with 24.5, David Gustafson and Marian Weiss fifth with 24, Bevery Rozaire-Brown and Kim Klindtworth sixth with 19.5 and Pat Oliver and Piney Van Riper seventh with 12.

The Florence club is Oregon Central Coast unit 572 of the American Contract Bridge League, which sanctions the weekly games.

Club play is 12:30 p.m. Thursdays at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 19th and Tamarack.
