Sophomore left-hander Gabe Simington, expected to be the Siuslaw Vikings' workhorse pitcher this season, was pulled just out of the gate for the second day in a row Tuesday, a bad sign with one game remaining before the start of Far West League baseball play.

Philomath scored five runs in the first inning and Simington exited with two out in the second as the Warriors went on to roll the Vikings, 11-1.

Monday, Simington was pulled with two out in the first inning. In both games, the 6-foot-2 hurler allowed a home run to the third batter of the first inning against Dallas. Dallas won 13-2 in 5 innings.

The Vikings later Monday dropped a 3-0 decision to Sweet Home as senior right-hander Kelby White pitched a complete-game six-hitter for Siuslaw.

Siuslaw finished the two-day tournament 0-3, and is now 0-6 heading into Tuesday's game at Pleasant Hill, the Vikings' last scheduled outing before opening Far West League play April 11 against Marshfield.

The game with the Pirates will be both the home and league opener for the Vikings, who have been bedeviled by bad weather this spring.
