Coquille junior pitcher Tianna Huffman won both games as the Red Devils swept the Siuslaw Vikings in a nonleague softball doubleheader Friday at Siuslaw, 5-4 in 11 innings and 19-8.

Saturday, Siuslaw fell at Harrisburg, 5-4, dropping to 3-4 for the season.

The Vikings host Tillamook at 3 p.m. Tuesday and have a doubleheader rematch with Coquille at Siuslaw at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8.

Siuslaw opens Far West League play at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Marshfield.

Coquille, 4-2, rallied for 3 runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the opener at 3-3. The Red Devils finally pushed across the winning run in the top of the 11th.

Senior Heidi Jones was 3-for-6 hitting while striking out 17 to take the tough-luck loss.

In the second game, the Red Devils erupted for 7 runs in the top of the third inning and 8 more in the top of the sixth to complete the sweep. The Vikings committed 8 errors in the nightcap while Coquille was flawless in the field.

Jones had 20 strikeouts on the day, and absorbed the first-game loss. Freshman Nina Aaron started and was the losing pitcher in the second game.

Senior Claire Waggoner was  3-for-8 for the two games with a two-run homer.

Vikings junior Ariel Rosinbaum was 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs and 3 stolen bases in the opener. Freshman Mia Collins was 2-for-3 and scored 2 runs in the second game.
