The Siuslaw Vikings jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning but the Harrisburg Eagles kept chipping away for a 5-4 nonleague softball victory Saturday at Harrisburg.

Siuslaw, 3-4, next hosts Tillamook at 3 p.m. Tuesday and Coquille at 4 p.m. Thursday to complete preleague play.

The Vikings open Far West League play at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Marshfield.

Senior catcher Nikki Launius led the Vikings' offense against Harrisburg with an RBI and 2 stolen bases.

Senior pitcher Heidi Jones took the loss, striking out 7 while allowing 5 hits and 4 walks over 6 innings.

Junior right-hander Haley Brooks struck out 12 while surviving 7 walks and 5 Vikings hits for the win.
