Vikings set numerous PRs at JV meet


Siuslaw sophomore Madison Reynolds set a personal record while winning the shot put with a heave of 33 feet, 11.5 inches.

Four Siuslaw Vikings' track and field athletes set personal records while winning their events Tuesday in a Far West League junior varsity meet at Hans Petersen Field.

Three other Vikings won events in competition with athletes from Marshfield, North Bend and South Umpqua. Nonleague member Gold Beach had a handful of entries, while league schools Brookings-Harbor and Douglas were absent.

"We've seen consistent improvement from some of our youngsters," Siuslaw coach Chris Johnson said. "Ryan Rendon-Padilla, Madison Reynolds and Brayson Myrick all had some nice trials in the throws.

"Also, a nice 800 meter debut for Hannah Rannow."

Top girls marks for the Vikings:

>> Sophomore Madison Reynolds won the shot put with a PR of 33 feet, 11.5 inches while finishing fourth in the discus with a PR 78-5. Also in the shot put, junior Marika White was third with a PR of 28-10 and freshman Lizzy Lewis fourth with a PR of 28-0.5.

>>  Junior Kaylee Graham won the 300 hurdles in 52.84a and the long jump at 14 feet, 9 inches. She was second in the 100 hurdles in 17.52a.

>> Freshman Hannah Rannow led a 1-2-3 sweep at 800 meters with a PR of 2 minutes, 39.56a seconds. Freshmen Chloe Madden and Trinity Erickson were second and third, respectively, with personal bests of 2:57.19a and 3:11.39a.

>> Senior Destinie Tatum, the defending 4A state champion at 800 meters, won the 400 in 1:03.30a, placed third in the 200 at 29.98a and tied for third in the high jump at 4-4.

>> Freshman Anne Wartnik was second in the 1,500 in a PR 5:39.78a.

>> Sophomore Hailee Edgerly was second in the discus in a PR 89-1.

>> Sophomore Calin Mason was second in the javelin at 91-3.

Top boys marks for the Vikings:

>> Freshman Ryan Rendon-Padilla won the javelin with a PR 163-7.

>> Junior KC Tatum won the discus with a PR 113-0.

>> Senior Clark Hooper won the 110 hurdles in 16.15a and finished second in the 300 hurdles in a PR 42.47a.

NOTES
