Pleasant Hill senior pitcher Bryce Moore struck out 12 Tuesday as the Billies baseball team defeated the visiting Siuslaw Vikings in a nonleague game, 6-1.

With the loss, the Vikings finished preleague play at 0-7. Siuslaw hosts Marshfield at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a Far West League opener.

Tuesday also will be the home opener for the Vikings.

Siuslaw has a lot of company among league teams in early-season struggles. North Bend is 0-6, South Umpqua 1-8, Marshfield 1-3-1, Brookings-Harbor 2-5 and Douglas 2-4.

Brookings-Harbor has a league best Class 4A ranking of No. 28. North Bend is No. 31, Douglas No. 32, Siuslaw No. 36, South Umpqua No. 37 and Marshfield No. 38.
