Delegate Assembly elects new Class 4A rep


Three constitutional changes were approved at Monday's meeting of the Oregon School Activities Association's Delegate Assembly, the OSAA announced Thursday.

Also Monday, Lane School District superintendent Krista Parent was elected as the Class 4A representative to the executive board.

Siuslaw School District superintendent Andy Grzeskowiak was a candidate for the 4A position.

Mark Hannan, from the Silverton School District, was elected association president.

Minutes from the meeting did not address classification changes due fall 2018, but noted the classification and districting committee did report to the delegate assembly.

The following changes were adopted:

  • Voted to amend Article 4.2 – Delegate Assembly – Qualifications and Article 5.2.1 – Executive Board – Qualifications to remove the Oregon administrative license requirement to serve as a member of the Delegate Assembly and Executive Board, effective immediately.
  • Voted to add Article 9.3.5 – Sports Medicine Advisory Committee ‐ Chief Medical Advisor which formalizes that the SMAC shall nominate a Chief Medical Advisor for the Association, effective immediately.
  • Voted to amend Rule 8.2 – Duration of Eligibility/Graduation – Southern Hemisphere Exception which revises the exception to be based on when a country's school year starts, rather than location, effective August 1, 2017.
