The Marshfield Pirates swept the host Siuslaw Vikings in a Far West League softball game Saturday, 4-2 and 15-1.

The victory lifted Marshfield to 2-1 in league and 8-4 overall. Siuslaw fell to 1-2 and 4-8.

The Vikings next host first-place Douglas (2-0, 3-4) at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Brookings-Harbor at Douglas game Saturday was postponed by rain or the league would have been back on schedule.

The Vikings went toe-to-toe with the Pirates in Game 1 Saturday, but Marshfield pushed across 2 runs in the top of sixth to open a 4-1 lead and held on for the win.

Siuslaw's Heidi Jones was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases in the game. On the mound, Jones struck out 8.

In the second game, the Pirates' Mackenzie Johnson spun a 1-hitter while striking out 6 in a game shortened to 5 innings.

Marshfield exploded for 11 runs in the top of the fifth to break open the game.

Abby Coday had an RBI and a double for the Vikings in Game 2.
