The Douglas Trojans pounded 9 hits and took advantage of 6 Siuslaw errors Tuesday to score an 8-2 Far West League softball victory over the host Vikings.

The first-place Trojans improved to 3-0 in league and 4-4 overall, while the Vikings slipped to 1-3 and 4-9.

Siuslaw travels to Winston on Friday for a doubleheader with Douglas. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Senior catcher Nikki Launius was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Vikings' offense.

Siuslaw senior pitcher Heidi Jones struck out 8 and walked 1.

Senior Makayla George was 3-for-4 and senior Molly Lavin-Williams 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored for Douglas.

The Vikings stranded a runner on third base in 4 of the first 5 innings before finally scoring 2 runs in the sixth.

In other league play Tuesday, South Umpqua beat Marshfield, 7-2, and North Bend pounded Brookings-Harbor, 13-0, in 5 innings.
