The Douglas Trojans erupted for 13 runs in the first two innings Tuesday and cruised to a 15-5 Far West League baseball victory over the Siuslaw Vikings at Winston.

Douglas shares first place in league with Marshfield at 3-1. The Trojans are 6-7 overall.

Siuslaw fell to 0-4 in league and 0-11 overall.

The Vikings host the Douglas in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Friday at Dodson Field.

The Vikings' Gabe Simington, a sophomore at Mapleton, clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 13-2.

Siuslaw pushed across 3 more runs in the top of the fifth inning to avoid the 10-run rule until the Trojans plated 2 in the bottom of the fifth to end it.

In other league action Tuesday, South Umpqua thumped Marshfield 15-6.
