Middle school to get new basketball hoops
The Siuslaw Athletic Booster Club will be electing officers for the next school year at its next monthly meeting, 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, at the high school library.
At April's monthly meeting Monday, the club:
- Approved to join with the Boys and Girls Club of Western Lane County in the purchase of four new adjustable basketball hoops for the middle school. Total cost will be nearly $5,000.
- Announced that the SABC Scholarship Selection Committee has eight applicants to consider from this year's senior class. A decision on scholarship winners should be made by the second week of May.
- Announced the next organization meeting for the club's annual dinner-auction will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Abby's Pizza. Booster Barn Bash II is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the King Family Farm.
- Announced that Coast Radio's Athlete of the Year Reception will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the high school mall. The event is open free to the public, and dessert and refreshments will be served.
- Reported a balance of $58,396.98 in its account.
