Oliver has top Vikings marks at Grants Pass


Siuslaw senior Carissa Oliver scored 18 of the Lady Vikings' 30 points at the 68th Grants Pass Rotary Invitational.

Siuslaw senior Carissa Oliver won the discus and placed second in the shot put Saturday for the top Vikings performance at the 68th Grants Pass Rotary Invitational track and field meet.

Oliver won the discus at 133 feet, 8 inches and posted a personal-record 40-9.75 in the shot.

The Vikings girls varsity was 10th in a field of 31, with Oliver scoring 18 of their 30 points.

Senior Destinie Tatum had a fifth place in the 400 meters in a season-record 1 minute, 2.57a seconds and a seventh place in the 800 at 2:33.56h to score 6 points.

Junior Kaylee Graham was sixth in both hurdles events, 17.87a in the 100 and a season-record 51.54a in the 300 for 6 points.

The Varsity boys were 11th in a field of 26 with 19.5 points.

Senior Clark Hooper was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 16.27a and tied for fourth in the 300 in 42.31a for 9.5 points.

Junior Trent Reavis was third in the shot put at 49-4.5 and sixth in the discus at 142-8 for 9 points.

Junior Kyle King was eighth in the triple jump with a personal-record 40-4 for 1 point.

The Siuslaw boys were 12th among 23 teams in the freshman/sophomore competition with 14 points.

Freshman Ryan Rendon-Padilla won the javelin with a throw of 153-3 for 10 points, while freshman Brendon Jensen was fifth in the 3,000 meters in a personal-record 9:45.09h for 4 points.

The Siuslaw girls were 15th among 23 teams in the freshman/sophomore division with 14 points.

Freshman Hannah Rannow ran a personal-record 11:39.78a in the 3,000 for third place and 6 points.

Sophomore Calin Mason flung the javelin a season-record 100-7 for fourth place and 5 points.

Sophomore Madison Reynolds had a personal-record 34-3.25 in the shot put for sixth place and 3 points.

Next up is a Far West League junior varsity meet Tuesday at North Bend and the Wally Ciochetti Invitational on Friday at Cottage Grove.

The district championships are Friday, May 12, at North Bend and the state championships Friday and Saturday, May 19-20, at Hayward Field in Eugene.
