Siuslaw senior pitcher Kelby White was the hard-luck loser Monday as the Vikings fell to the South Umpqua Lancers, 3-2, in a Far West League baseball makeup game at Jiggs Dodson Field.

Siuslaw is now 1-8 in league, 1-15 overall. South Umpqua is second place in league at 6-3 and 7-11 overall.

The Vikings host Brookings-Harbor at 5 p.m. Tuesday, then travel to Brookings-Harbor on Friday for a doubleheader.

Siuslaw closes the season with a 3-game series with North Bend — 5 p.m. Monday at North Bend and a doubleheader with North Bend at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Jiggs Dodson Field.

Monday, the Lancers reached White for 2 runs in the top of the first, but then were kept off the scoreboard until 2 outs in the top of the seventh.

White, working on a pitch count, exited after hitting a batter. Catcher's interference, an infield hit and an infield error allowed South Umpqua to plate the winning run.

The Vikings had scratched back to tie the game at 2-2 on an RBI sacrifice fly by Nick Steinman in the bottom of the fourth and a run-scoring groundout by Brogan Cornish in the bottom of the sixth.
