The Siuslaw Vikings closed their softball season Wednesday with a Far West League doubleheader loss to North Bend at North Bend, 14-0 and 10-15.

The Vikings ended their season 1-14 in league and 4-20 overall.

North Bend clinched second place in league at 11-4. The No. 8-ranked Bulldogs are 17-7 overall as they await their first OSAA Class 4A playoff date.

It was a busy final three days of the season for Siuslaw, which had a single game Monday at home against North Bend and a home doubleheader Tuesday against Brookings-Harbor.

Tuesday, junior Makayla Holmes was 5-for-8 and drove in 5 runs to lead visiting Brookings-Harbor to 12-0 and 10-6 wins over Siuslaw.

The Vikings, limited to 3 hits in the first game, erupted for 11 hits in the second game. Junior Ariel Rosinbaum was 3-for-4 wth 2 runs scored, freshman Mia Collins 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and Hayley Meier 2-for-4.

Elissa Hurley, Collins and Meier had 1 hit each in the opener.

Bruins senior Tyrah Holmes was the winning pitcher in both games, striking out 3 in her 3-hit shutout in the opener while striking out 9 in the nightcap.

Junior Abby Coday was the losing pitcher in the opener, striking out 4 and walking 8 over 5 innings.

Freshman Nina Aaron was the losing pitcher in the second game, striking out 2 and walking 2 over 7 innings.
