Vikings boys summer league is underway


Suslaw graduate Dylan Perry led the Vikings back to the state boys basketball playoffs in his first season as head coach.

Siuslaw High School boys summer league basketball tipped off Monday, May 15, with open gym from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the high school.

Summer league practice begins at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, and the first action is the Elmira Summer League Basketball Tournament June 10-11, with teams from Siuslaw, Elmira, Creswell, Pleasant Hill, Junction City and Cottage Grove.

Siuslaw will host a 21-team, 13-school event June 16-18, called the Oregon Dunes Boys Summer Basketball Tournament.

Schools entered include Siuslaw, North Bend, Marshfield, Douglas, Elmira, Phoenix, Newport, North Eugene, Waldport, Harrisburg, Damascus Christian, Eddyville and Elkton.

Other games on the summer league schedule include:

  • June 13 — Newport Summer Basketball, two games.
  • June 20 — Newport Summer Basketball, two games.
  • June 23-25 — Seaside Summer Basketball Tournament, featuring 20 teams.
  • June 30-July 2 — Marshfield Southwestern Oregon Community Colllege Basketball Tournament.
