Mans, Rannow, Reavis are first up at state


The Siuslaw Vikings girls have a chance to post an early lead in the Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A track and field championships this coming weekend at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Vikings senior Celie Mans and freshman Hannah Rannow both will toe the line for the 3,000-meter final at 9 a.m. Friday, the first girls event of the two-day 4A championships.

Siuslaw senior Jack Pickell will compete in the boys 3,000 final at 9:45 a.m.

Vikings junior Trent Reavis competes in the first of three finals over two days with the boys discus at 9 a.m. Friday. He also is in the boys shot put final at 11:45 a.m. Friday.

In other events Friday involving Vikings athletes:

  • Senior Destinie Tatum will open defense of her girls 800 title with preliminaries at 12:48 p.m.
  • Junior Kaylee Graham has preliminaries in both girls hurdles, the 100 at noon and the 300 at 2:12 p.m.
  • Senior Clark Hooper has preliminaries in both boys hurdles, the 110 at 12:24 p.m. and the 300 at 2:36 p.m.

In Saturday's finals:

  • Senior Carissa Oliver competes in the girls shot put at 12:30 p.m. and the discus at 3:15 p.m.
  • Reavis is in the boys javelin final at 1 p.m.
  • Mans and Rannow will run the girls 1,500 final at 1:18 p.m.
  • Tatum defends her title in the girls 800 final at 3:18 p.m.
  • If they qualify for the hurdles finals, Graham would run the 100 at 2:54 p.m. and the 300 at 4:24 p.m., while Hooper would run the 110 at 3:06 p.m. and the 300 at 4:24 p.m.
  • Timed finals for the girls 4x400 relay is 4:36 p.m. and 4:44 p.m.
