Thompson a semifinalist for player of year

Oregon State pitchers Jake Thompson, a redshirt junior and Siuslaw High School graduate, and Luke Heimlich are among the 25 semifinalists for the 2017 Dick Howser Trophy, which honors the top player in collegiate baseball, it was announced Thursday.

Voting is by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The finalists will be announced June 9 and the winner June 16, during the College World Series.
