Mans, Hooper, Reavis stand out for Vikings


Siuslaw seniors Celie Mans and Clark Hooper and junior Trent Reavis had top marks Friday for the Vikings in the OSAA Class 4A state track and field championships at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Mans placed fourth in the girls 3,000 meters, while freshman teammate Hannah Rannow was 10th.

Reavis placed fourth in the shot put but out of the money in the discus, while Hooper ran personal bests in both the 110 and 300 hurdles to advance to Saturday's finals.

In other events Friday for the Vikings:

  • Senior Destinie Tatum, the defending state champion in the girls 800, failed to make it out of the preliminaries.
  • Junior Kaylee Graham failed to qualify in both the girls 100 and 300 hurdles.
  • Senior Jack Pickell finished 13th in the boys 3,000 final.

In Saturday's finals for the Vikings:

  • Senior Carissa Oliver competes in the girls shot put at 12:30 p.m. and the discus at 3:15 p.m.
  • Reavis is in the boys javelin final at 1 p.m.
  • Mans and Rannow will run the girls 1,500 final at 1:18 p.m.
  • Hooper will run the 110 at 3:06 p.m. and the 300 at 4:24 p.m.
  • Timed finals for the girls 4x400 relay are 4:36 p.m. and 4:44 p.m.
