Humboldt State junior right fielder Lona Dengler (Siuslaw 2013) Humboldt State junior right fielder Lona Dengler (Siuslaw 2013) contributed an RBI single and scored a run in a 6-run, third-inning rally Friday as the Lumberjacks beat visiting Dixie State, 8-6, for a trip to the NCAA II national softball championships.
Humboldt State (Arcata, CA) won the best-of-3 series 2-0, and now will join seven other super regional champions in the national championships May 25-29 in Salem, VA.
Dengler, a transfer from Southwestern Oregon Community College, has 34 hits in 128 at bats this season, a .266 average, with 17 runs scored, 14 RBIs and 2 home runs.
She has started 50 of 56 games for the 43-13 Lumberjacks, and has not committed an error this season.
