Siuslaw senior Carissa Oliver won the shot put title and junior Trent Reavis set a school record while finishing second in the javelin to highlight the Vikings' showing at the OSAA Class 4A state track and field championships at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Oliver went a personal-record 41 feet, 7.75 inches in the shot put. She was second in the discus at 132-11 (her personal best is 136-5). Molalla's Rachel Bring won the discus with a PR 148-9.

"The state meet was bittersweet like it can be," Vikings coach Chris Johnson said. "Day one was tough, but we rebounded well on day two and got an individual state championship and two runners-up. Also a school record with in the javelin."

The Vikings girls finished 11th in team scoring with 23 points, Oliver contributing 18 Saturday with her win in the shot put and a second-place finish in the discus.

Senior Celie Mans, battling tendinitis, was fourth in the 3,000 meters in 10:39.93 on Friday for 5 team points.

"No question Celie was hurting," Johnson said. "It's sad, but she's had an amazing career, one of the most successful careers for a distance runner in our classification for sure.

"She is going to have a great career at the University of Idaho."

The Vikings boys were 14th in team scoring with 20 points.

Reavis had 13 points with a second place in the javelin (8) and fourth place in the shot put (5), while senior hurdler Clark Hooper had 7 points, finishing fifth in the 110 (4) and sixth in the 300 (3).

Reavis launched the javelin 181-11 for second place and the IAAF version of the school record previously held by his cousin Kody Reavis (2008).

Hooper had personal bests in both hurdles on Friday (15.59a in the 110, 41.42a in the 300) to qualify for Saturday's finals.

Other girls who qualified for the state meet included senior Destinie Tatum in the 800, junior Kaylee Graham in both hurdles and freshman Hannah Rannow in the 3,000 and 1,500.

Rannow ran a personal-record 11:20.72a in the 3,000, finishing 10th.

Sophomore Kaeli Ramos joined Graham, Rannow and Tatum on the Vikings' state 4x400 relay team, which finished 13th.

Senior Jack Pickell qualified for the state boys 3,000 final, finishing 13th while coming within 3 seconds of his personal best.
