SABC elects 4 more officers for 2017-18

The Siuslaw Athletic Booster Club has elected four more officers to fill most of its organizational roster for 2017-18 school year.

Steve Moser was elected vice president, Anna Moser membership chair, Pam Hickson public relations and Chris Johnson member at large at Monday's final monthly meeting of the school year.

They join secretary Diane Conlee, treasurer Vicki Soran and members at large Karen Perry and Jeromy Graybill.

Two key positions remain open — president and auction chair.

"We have had the opportunity to donate in a large way to the middle school and high school sports programs," past president Gina Castro Brandt wrote in an email to SABC members.

Among the clubs actions this past year cited by Castro Brandt:

  • Purchase of scoreboards in the middle school gyms
  • New camera for the track teams
  • Adjustable basketball hoops to support the Boys and Girls Club programs
  • Rugs and traffic pylons for safety in the high school gym
  • A conditioning app for all student-athletes at the high school
  • Support of basketball team camps and tournaments
  • Cheerleading uniforms
  • Sponsorship of the Athlete of the Year Reception

"Our proudest donation to our community is the $7,000 committed to the Ian Foster Fund for participation scholarships," Castro Brand wrote.

"The next big programs coming will be the Hall of Fame Induction August 18 and the annual booster club auction August 19."

The next auction committee meeting is 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Beachcomber.

A special meeting of the new board will be held this week to vote on a donation proposal to replace the sand in the shot put pit with crushed gravel.

The first monthly meeting for the next school year is 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at the high school library.

The SABC usually meets the last Monday of the month during the school year.
