Bandon's Scotty Kennon took boys' medalist honors and Yakima's Cassie Kim girls honors Tuesday at the PNGA junior amateur championships at Sandpines Golf Links.
Kennon shot a two-day total of 5-under-par 66-73—139 to top runner-up Sean Kato (69-73—142) by 3 shots. Austin Darnell of Mount Vernon, Wash., was third at 70-73—143.
Three days of match play began Wednesday with the Round of 32.
Kennon, the top seed, topped No. 32 seed Will Alexander of Chehalis, Wash., in Wednesday's Round of 32, 5 and 4.
Kennon is matched with Ian Siebers of Bellevue, Wash., in Wednesday's Round of 16.
Kim had a two-day total of 5-over-par 149 to lead a field of 16 into match play Wednesday through Friday.
The Round of 16 and the quarterfinals were scheduled for Wednesday for the girls.
