There's a fine sense of balance in Vikings

The Vikings cheerleaders already have contributed their time to such events as the the Relay for Life and the Booster Barn Bash.

There is a fine sense of balance with the 2017-18 Siuslaw Vikings cheerleading squad.

The eight ladies in the squad include two seniors, two juniors, two sophomores and two freshmen.

They have been busy already, with such great community events as the Booster Barn Bash and the Relay for Life.

The squad will take the field Friday for the annual Blue-Gold Game at Hans Petersen Field.

Game time for the annual intrasquad football showcase is 7 p.m. It is the first opportunity to enjoy the hard work of the the cheerleaders, football team and the band.

And the price is right: It's free.

This year's cheerleading squad includes:

  • Seniors Ariel Rosinbaum (base) and Emilee Christensen (tumbler, flyer)
  • Juniors Grace Hammonds (flyer) and Desteny Johnson (base)
  • Sophomores Kelsey Larson (base) and Brooklyn Cahoon (base, flyer)
  • Freshmen Adria Sandusky (backspot) and Laena Jagoe (flyer)

The team has a number of community events and competitions through the school year.

The Class 4A state championships are Feb. 10 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

Coach of the team is Diane Conlee.
