Today is the deadline for the early-bird sign-up rate for the seventh annual Siuslaw Open, a benefit for Siuslaw Outreach Services.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Ocean Dunes Golf Links in Florence.

"If you are unable to participate, or you are simply not a golfer but want to help, you can sponsor the event or make a donation," SOS executive director Bob Teter said. "Any support is greatly appreciated."

Siuslaw Outreach Services provides help for those in need for a variety of reasons, including domestic violence, housing assistance, prevention education for youth and the like.

SOS has been serving the Florence and Mapleton area communities for more than 20 years.

Early entry fee to the tournament is $75 per player, or $295 per team, if paid by today (Friday, Sept. 1). Registration will continue through Monday, Sept. 11.

Prizes include a putting contest with the chance to win $5,000, a hole-in-one contest with a chance to win a 2017 Ford F-150 and closest-to-pin (KP) prizes that include vacation packages, dinner certificates and gift baskets.

Prizes are donated by local merchants.

Registration and check-in for the four-person, best-ball scramble has a shotgun start at 10 a.m. A barbecue meal at the end of the tournament completes the event.
