Siuslaw graduate Jake Thompson hurled two hitless innings Monday in his final appearance this season for the Lowell Spinners of the New York-Penn League.

The Boston Red Sox — who grabbed the right-hander in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft in June — have had the former Oregon State All-American on an innings limit in his first season as a professional.

Thompson (0-3) had seven appearances, all starts, for a total of 11 1-3 innings.

Thompson, who turns 23 on Sept. 22, finishes with a 3.18 earned run average, 11 strikeouts, 10 hits allowed and 6 walks.

Lowell's final game of the season was Thursday (Sept. 7).
