The Siuslaw Vikings have filled in 22 games this coming spring for first-year baseball coach Tom Shinn.

The Vikings will open their season with two home games, Wednesday, March 14, against Pleasant Hill and Friday, March 16, against Sutherlin at Dodson Field.

The 15-game Far West League schedule begins Tuesday, April 10, at Marshfield. First pitch is 5 p.m.

Siuslaw is scheduled to end the regular season with a doubleheader with South Umpqua on Friday, May 10, at Dodson Field.

The Vikings have four returning starters, including senior shortstop Jared Brandt and Mapleton junior Gabe Simington, a first baseman and the team's top pitcher.

Siuslaw also has promising sophomores Caleb Hennessee (third base-pitcher) and Jared Northrop (second base-outfield).

Evan Teter, who is recovering from an injury, didn't play last season, but may return for his senior year.

First practice is Monday, Feb. 26.
