The Siuslaw Vikings girls volleyball team rallied but came up just short Thursday in a nonleague match at Pleasant Hill.

The Vikings spotted the Billies a two-set lead before Pleasant Hill won in five, 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 15-12.

The win left Siuslaw 2-2 for the season as the Vikings head to the Canby Tournament on Saturday.

Junior middle blocker Makenzie York had 21 kills, 5 block solos and 7 digs to lead the Vikings. Sophomore middle blocker Mia Collins had 7 kills and junior outside hitter Jordan Long had 7 digs.

The Billies, ranked No. 11 in Class 3A, improved to 4-1.

Pleasant Hill was powered by its co-captains, 5-10 junior middle blocker Victoria Lewis and 5-foot-7 senior outside hitter Sophia Casarez.

Lewis had 17 kills and 12 digs while Casarez had 13 kills and 9 aces.

The Vikings' road show ends Tuesday when they host Marshfield in Siuslaw's Far West League and home opener. First serve is 6:30 p.m.
