The Siuslaw Vikings boys and girls cross country teams each placed sixth in the Prefontaine Memorial Run 5K on Saturday in Coos Bay.

Sophomore Brendon Jensen finished 10th overall in a personal-best 17 minutes, 17.3 seconds to lead the Siuslaw boys to sixth place among 17 schools with 135 points.

Junior Daniel Beckstead topped the field of 191 boys in 15:55.7 to power Grants Pass to the team title with 62 points. Bandon was second with 72, as seniors Hunter Hutton and Josh Snyder placed 2-3.

Sophomore Hannah Rannow was 21st in 22:09.6 and freshman Brea Blankenship 22nd in a PR 22:09.8 as the Siuslaw girls were sixth among 11 schools with 143 points.

Sophomore Faith Schultz was second among 142 girls in 19:30.8 to help Grants Pass take the team title with 42 points.

Bandon senior Sailor Hutton was the individual winner in 18:28.0.

The event was a quick turnaround for the Vikings, who won boys and girls titles Wednesday at the North Bend Tugman Invitational.
