The Siuslaw Vikings wrestling team opens its 2017-18 season Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Central Coast Challenge in Reedsport.

Siuslaw, North Bend and Reedsport will compete.

The Vikings return state 4A champion Richard Huff, a senior.

Also expected back are senior Salvador Sierra, junior Riley Jennings and sophomore Matt Horrillo, all members of the Vikings' varsity football team.

Siuslaw has two home dates, the annual Nick Lutz Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13, and a dual meet with Philomath on Thursday, Jan. 25.

Neil Wartnik is Siuslaw's veteran head coach, assisted by Chris Rupp, David Burkett, Dusty Shingleton, Robert Forsythe and Thomas Jennings.

Practice begins Monday, Nov. 13. The state championships are Feb. 16-17 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.
