Siuslaw junior Makenzie York had 27 kills and fellow middle blocker Mia Collins, a sophomore, had 10 Tuesday to rally the Vikings to a 3-2 victory over South Umpqua in a Far West League girls volleyball match at Glenn Butler Court.

Siuslaw won by scores of 21-25, 17-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-13 to improve to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in league.

Junior outside hitter Alyssa Richards had a team-best 4 aces and 3 kills and freshman defensive specialist Lindsey Long had a team-high 4 digs for the Vikings.

Jordan Long added 5 kills, 3 digs and 3 aces.

The Vikings open second-half play Thursday, traveling to Coos Bay to face Marshfield, which shares the league lead with North Bend at 4-1.

Siuslaw is scheduled to play in the Junction City tournament Saturday.

The Vikings have two home dates next week, hosting Brookings-Harbor on Tuesday and Douglas on Thursday.

Siuslaw completes league play on the road, Tuesday, Oct. 10, at North Bend and Thursday, Oct. 12, at South Umpqua.
